Main-Land Wins “2019 Best Places to Work in Maine” Award

Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc. is pleased to announce winning a coveted spot with the 2019 Best Places to Work in Maine awards. This marks Main-Land’s second time in a row as a best place to work, having placed 8th in Maine last year.

The awards program is a project of the Society for Human Resource Management – Maine State Council (MESHRM) and Best Companies Group. Partners endorsing the program include: Mainebiz, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, the Maine Department of Labor, the Department of Economic and Community Development and Maine HR Convention.

This statewide survey and awards program identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2018 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 75 companies in three size categories: small (15-49 U.S. employees), medium (50-249 U.S. employees) and large (250+ U.S. employees).

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. The second and majority part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.

Main-Land will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in Maine awards ceremony on October 2nd and will be listed in a special publication by Mainebiz. The final rankings will be announced at the event.

Robert Berry Promoted to President of Main-Land Development Consultants

Bob Berry

He succeeds Darryl Brown, who this week was confirmed as Commissioner of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, as the leader of the Livermore Falls land development consulting firm

LIVERMORE FALLS – Robert Berry, III has been named President of Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc. following the resignation of former president and firm founder Darryl Brown, who on Tuesday was sworn-in as the Commissioner for the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Berry, a licensed professional engineer who received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine at Orono in 1994, joined Main-Land in 2004.

As an engineer and project manager at the firm, Berry has worked at designing, coordinating and guiding to successful completion projects throughout Maine including residential, industrial and multi-use developments; churches; commercial developments; institutional improvements; and municipal projects. He is currently leading site development efforts for both the Oxford Resort Casino and the Livermore Falls Medical Arts Building.

Berry lives with his wife and three sons on the family farm in Embden.

“While all of us in the Main-Land family are sad to see Darryl go, we congratulate and wish him well in his new role as Maine DEP Commissioner. At the same time, we want to assure our many valuable clients that we will continue to provide the professional, prompt and personable land planning consulting services our firm has built its reputation upon for nearly four decades,” said Berry, who has provided provisional leadership of the firm since early January when Brown’s nomination was announced.

In addition to Berry as its president, the firm will be led by a governing board that includes Main-Land’s Personnel and Engineering Director Tom DuBois, Office Manager and Treasurer Angela Pinkham, Turner-based attorney Clint Boothby and Jay-based accountant Ron McAllister.

Main-Land will continue to offer soils and site evaluation work, formerly done by Brown, provided by Kenneth Stratton, a Licensed Site Evaluator and Certified Soil Scientist with more than three decades of experience.
